New diagnosis: Huskins to miss 6-8 weeks with fracture
The on-again, off-again fracture in Kent Huskins' left ankle is back on again. Huskins tested the ankle on Monday and was able to skate straight lines without problems. But he felt discomfort when making turns.
The Blues medical staff did another examination and rediscovered a fracture. Huskins originally was diagnosed with a fracture, but that read subsequently was changed to a deep bruise and his status was changed to day to day.
With a fracture now back in play, the team is projecting Huskins to miss six to eight weeks. He was off to an outstanding start, with two goals, two assists and a plus-6 rating. But he suffered the injury blocking a shot in a 3-1 loss at Calgary on Oct. 28.
Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said the news on Huskins means Ian Cole will have an extended opportunity. “This is the seven (defensemen) we're going to go with,” Hitchcock said.
Cole is not in the lineup tonight.
