I don't know about you, but I don't seem to have a lot of money lying around as the holidays approach. I've spent it all traveling. So as I looked around for good holiday gifts for the traveler this year, I sought out items that would make a traveler smile without heavily denting a wallet. Here's what I found.

Futuro compression stockings, various prices

Compression hose: They're hard to get on, but so important for preventing deep vein thrombosis when you're on a long flight. There are many brands, and they all work just fine. But right now, I'm using Futuro (the health brand that also makes knee, wrist and back supports), which offers different degrees of compression (mild, moderate and firm) as well as different sizes and colors. For flying, I like Revitalizing Trouser Socks for women ($14.30 on amazon.com ), but I was surprised to discover this company also makes pantyhose. I hate pantyhose. But Energizing Ultra Sheer Pantyhose ($11.74 on amazon.com ) are more like black tights that are great for a cold climate when I want to wear a dress. They really hug my legs — after all, they're compression hose — and won't sag after a few hours like tights sometimes do.
