"Boots are the all-time best footwear because even when they're glam, they're warmer, sturdier and comfier than your average shoe," says Dannielle Kyrillos , lifestyle expert with GiltCity.com . When we're talking wear-to-work or out with friends, the freshest style in boots this year is an ankle boot, says the fashion expert. One that cuts just below the bone is especially wearable right now.

When style is a priority, you won't misstep if you choose a wedge, a riding boot or anything with a softer round toe, says Sharon Fenno , owner of Circles in Stuyvesant Plaza. Those three elements not only make for fashion-forward footwear, but they are high on the comfort list. Riding boots have low or no heels, saving you from teetering around. Frye has become synonymous with the saddle-style, but if you are looking to spend a little less, be sure to check out Nine West or even Old Navy. You're not going to get genuine leather with the latter, but you will find a price tag that is less than $50.
