All the struggles were yesterday, however, and as Pierce said, 'you can't take yesterday back.' On Sunday, she posted the fastest run of the rodeo with her 13.81 seconds; her time lasted through several challenges to win Round Four. She is the fifth different WPRA barrel racer to win a round this week.
"I came in here and everybody had given me bling-bling tack and hats and the first thing I did [today] was put his Plain-Jane, his leather breast collar, headstall and my black hat back on," Pierce laughs. "I thought, you know what, I have hit so many barrels, no stress, I'm just going to go and make the best run I can."
"It feels great because I knew he could do it," Pierce adds. "You know, he is a phenomenal athlete and I'm so blessed to have him. He was just waiting on me to get my stuff together."
"I think I've got it now, we're just going to go have fun."
Pierce added thanks to her mom, Danita Walker, who is here helping her handle horse care duties and balance sponsor and fan obligations.
